How to solve the thermodynamics?
The problem I see is that from a thermodynamic point of view the concentrations and partial pressures of CH4 and the electron acceptors are too low compared to deep marine environments. Therefore it needs very good investigations to exclude artefacts and to convince in this point. I expect the extent of AOM to be rather low, so the detection is really a problem.
